Standing Up for What Matters: In memory of Jamel Myles

I'm really late to this head line, but it still matters now! It will always matter! So, I have a problem, and I’m not backing down from how I feel about it. Jamel Myles, a 9-year-old from Colorado,  who went to Joe Shoemaker Elementary School in Denver tragically took his own life in August 2018. Reports indicate that Jamel had recently come out as gay to his classmates and Just days into the school year, overwhelmed by the torment, Jamel Myles tragically took his own life.  Jamel hung himself at home; His mom stated that he and his sister had been getting bullied at this school, and her son got it worse after he admitted he was gay. This shatters my heart into pieces I have yet to pick up. I'm a grown man, but my outlook on this world changed drastically my investigation into this unforgettable tragedy. Everyone failed Jamel! Nobody gets a pat on their backs! The mom failed, the school failed, and the parents who raised those cold blooded monsters failed! This goes against everything I stand for. This heartbreaking event underscores the devastating impact of bullying, prejudice, and the lack of support for LGBTQ+ youth. I'm calling out the school officials, and the parents who created those little monsters! No one, especially a child, should ever feel so isolated or rejected that they believe ending their life is the only option... At 9?? He was still a baby! But he was hurting that bad, his darkness could find no light- at 9 years old?! What the fuck is going on in this world?! If something like this doesn't make everybody stop and pause, I don't know what will! It's a stark reminder that as a society, we have a responsibility to create safe, loving, and accepting environments for everyone, regardless of their identity. The time to act is now—by fostering kindness, educating others, and standing up against discrimination, we can honor Jamel's memory and work to ensure no child ever feels the same pain he endured. May he rest in peace now... Rest in peace little one... Rest in peace.

LGBT Youth and Suicide Statistics

The mental health challenges faced by LGBT youth are a growing concern, with alarming statistics highlighting the risks of suicide in this vulnerable group. Research shows that LGBT children are significantly more likely to experience suicidal ideation or attempts compared to their non-LGBT peers.

According to national studies, approximately 40% of LGBT youth consider suicide, and around 14% attempt it before the age of 17. Among children under the age of 17, LGBT youth are nearly five times more likely to commit or attempt suicide than their heterosexual counterparts.

These statistics underscore the urgent need for supportive environments, inclusive policies, and mental health resources to address the unique struggles faced by LGBT children. This does mean that we must save our children from the evils of other children. <"parents"> are going to have to be more diligent and aware of what's going on with their children.

Your the ones that are supposed to protect your baby when no one else will! If you can't handle the pressure then you shouldn't have children. Period! So I'm calling out all parents on this one! If your child commits suicide or if they're even thinking it- and their clear from any mental issues- you've failed as a parent. It's time to stand up for what matters! The children matter!

I don't care about race, creed, background, or ethnicity! Any child should be receiving love and protection.

A Guide for Parents: Protecting Your Kids from Bullying

Parenting in today’s world requires vigilance, compassion, and action, especially when it comes to protecting your kids from bullying—whether by peers or adults. This guide outlines practical steps parents can take to create a supportive environment, prevent bullying, and address its effects. The goal? To safeguard your children’s mental health and keep them safe from the devastating consequences of bullying, including the risk of suicide. Here are 10 crucial rules to help you step into the role of a supportive "helicopter parent" (without overstepping).

10 Directions to Keep Your Kids Safe:

  1. Open the Lines of Communication: Regularly talk to your kids about their day, friends, and experiences. Create a safe space where they feel comfortable sharing their struggles and emotions without fear of judgment. (This is a must)
  2. Maintain Awareness: Stay informed about your child’s social interactions, both online and offline. Know who their friends are, monitor their social media activity, and look out for warning signs of bullying.
  3. Teach Empathy and Resilience: Equip your kids with the skills to recognize bullying, stand up for themselves, and be empathetic toward others. Encourage kindness and teach them how to handle conflict constructively.
  4. Set Boundaries for Technology: Cyberbullying is a growing concern. Limit screen time, monitor their online presence, and educate them about safe internet practices.
  5. Be Your Child’s Advocate: If bullying arises, step in to address the situation with teachers, school administrators, or other parents. Act as their voice and ensure their concerns are taken seriously.
  6. Watch for Behavioral Changes: Signs like withdrawal, anxiety, or a drop in academic performance can point to bullying. Pay attention to these red flags and seek help early if needed.
  7. Model Positive Behavior: Demonstrate respect, kindness, and assertiveness in your own interactions. Your actions set the standard for how your children should treat others and expect to be treated.
  8. Create a Support System: Surround your kids with loving and supportive family members, friends, and mentors who can provide guidance and encouragement.
  9. Encourage Seeking Help: Make it clear that asking for help is a sign of strength, not weakness. Whether it's a counselor, teacher, or trusted adult, ensure your child knows they have options for support.
  10. Teach Problem-Solving Skills: Help your kids develop strategies for resolving conflicts peacefully and effectively. This empowers them to handle difficult situations with confidence and maturity.

Bullying is a serious issue, but with proactive steps, parents can play a vital role in preventing it and reducing its impact. I'm sorry not sorry I was a jackass in my article, but when it comes to kids I'm not playing with anybody about that! By following these 10 rules, you can protect your children, foster their emotional well-being, and create an environment where they feel safe, valued, and supported. Let’s work together to keep our kids safe and strong. You can't do half a days work as a parent, when parenting is a full time job! You've already failed at being a parent if your giving your child 50% when they need and deserve the whole 100% do better, because their future lies in our hands. What a career giver you are. This is so sad, I know this kids pain much to well I went through it myself in the 60s no one to help me I didn't know what was wrong with me why I was so different, but everyone in school knew and I paid the price with daily bulling and beatings. This wouldn't happen if parents would take Time with their kids, I know they need jobs But they are suppose to GIVE Time off for children, IT's unlawful not too, and if they would follow the word, quote " rear a child before IT's Born, we wouldn't have This in their lives. YES, the Way you carry yourself when you are with child, and The Way you are carrying your life while that child is inside you is his or her life reactions in Life πŸ™πŸΎπŸ§¬, so if you are doing this type of thing like being or acting gay, THIS is what your child will be, if evil is IT then That's what you chose for yo child, Read The BIBLE, IT'S A LIVING TESTIMONY. REMEMBER, WHATEVER YOU DO WHILE CARRYING THAT CHILD, THAT'S HOW THE CHILD COMES IN THE WORLD 🌎🌍.
